US Tests F-35 Stealth Jet for Supersonic Nuclear Strike

The United States (US) military, for the first time, has released footage of the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter stealth fighter jet dropping an inert or imitation nuclear bomb at speeds exceeding the speed of sound or supersonic. Actual nuclear weapons testing was prohibited under the 1996 agreement. the footage, compiled by Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the US National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), shows the test flight took place Aug. 25 at the Tonopah Test Range, part of the Nevada Test. and Training Range which also houses Area 51.

Video of testing the dropping of an inert nuclear bomb at supersonic speeds was also uploaded to YouTube by The Drive. 

The Pentagon's F-35 Joint Program Office previously published photos in June of another test at Edwards California Air Force Base where the F-35 was also dropped the inert B61-12 nuclear bomb.
